Yesterday Ann-Marie and I took ourselves off to the Stitch and Craft show. We were hoping to meet lots of like minded creative types but in reality there were just a load of stalls all selling very similar overpriced merchandise – if you looked around you could find the odd bargain so we stocked up on some beautiful cotton fabric and a few sewing essentials.
Upstairs in the yarn section there was a couple of interesting stands and several contemporary designers selling their own knitting and crochet pattern designs. I would recommend having a look at Purl Alpaca Designs if you are into knitting as her work has a contemporary twist on vintage designs of the 40’s and 50’s.
The highlight of the show was the Stitchcraft stand which was really inspirational. Stitchcraft has been going since 1932 and we spoke to the current editor about their stand which was dressed in a short few hours with lots of props from the props cupboard (how I wish we could have access to that store of goodies). Inspired by the Jubilee theme we’ve decided to run a jubilee workshop over the summer term. See the workshop page for more details.
